Which days/hours are commercial construction and commercial lawn care work allowed to done?
Work may be done Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. On Saturday, work may be done between the hours of 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM. No commercial work may be done on Sunday or on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
How can I find out what is checked during the Vacation Rental Certificate (VRC) inspection?
The Officers inspect the safety of the dwelling. They will check to ensure there is a working land line and telephone, smoke detectors in living/sleeping areas, CO detector if there is a garage and/or natural gas in the home, a functioning up-to-date fire extinguisher, house numbers on the front of the dwelling, pool alarms on all doors AND windows with direct, unobstructed access to a pool or spa and they will also verify that there are no FEMA issues with living spaces on the ground level of all elevated properties.

What days/times are VRC inspections done?
Inspections are done between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

Can I have living space on the ground level of an elevated dwelling?
FEMA regulations do not allow any type of living space on the ground floor of an elevated dwelling. Space below the BFE (Base Flood Elevation) can ONLY be used for parking, building access, and storage. The space must not be used for recreational or habitable purposes.

What are the maximum permissible noise levels (noise ordinance)?
- 65 dBA during the hours between 7:00 AM and 10:00 PM
- 50 dBA during the hours between 10:00 PM and 7:00 AM

What is the penalty for violating the noise ordinance?
- First violation: A city law enforcement or code enforcement officer may issue a civil citation carrying a fine of $75.00 for a first violation if the officer determines that the violator is subject to the city's jurisdiction for less than six months. Notwithstanding the foregoing, a city law enforcement or code enforcement officer may issue a warning notice for a first violation of this chapter. A warning notice does not carry a fine.
- Second violation: Within 365 days of a warning notice or a first violation carrying a line, as the case may be, a city law enforcement or code enforcement officer shall issue a civil citation with a $150.00 fine.
- Third violation: Within 365 days of the second violation, a city law enforcement or code enforcement officer shall issue a civil citation with a $500.00 fine.
- Fourth violation: Within 365 days of the second civil citation but subsequent to the issuance of a citation for a third violation, a City law enforcement or code enforcement officer shall issue a civil citation a fine to be determined up to $750.00.
Am I allowed to park a boat or recreational vehicle in my driveway and for how long?
Parking of recreational vehicle-type units as defined in section 62-56 above on a street or city right-of-way is prohibited except for the purpose of loading or unloading when such stopping does not unduly interfere with the movement of traffic. In residential districts, recreational vehicle type units shall be parked only in the following locations:
- Carports or garages and in the side and rear yards.
- One such unit, and not more than one such unit, may be parked within the front yard and said unit must have a current registration and tag and be located in the following manner:

- On the driveway;
- In the side yard with not more than six feet of the length of the recreational vehicle type unit extending into the front yard; or
- On a stabilized base elsewhere in the front yard and in a manner such that intervening landscaping or shrubbery allows not than 20 percent of the length of the recreational vehicle type unit to be visible from the street when one is standing on the street at the pavement edge nearest the property line directly in front of the location in which the item is placed.
3. It is prohibited to park a recreational type vehicle on vacant property or in any
waterfront yard.
4. Not more than of any of the following types of vehicles/units may be parked in the
front yard at any one time:

- One recreational vehicle type unit;
- One trailer utilized to transport any type of vessel;
- One boat or personal watercraft;
- One boat and trailer combination;
- One personal watercraft and trailer combination; or
- One utility trailer.

What is the trash pick-up schedule?
Residential household garbage is collected two (2) times per week. Collection days are Mondays and Fridays.
Residential Recycling is collected one (1) time per week. Collection day is on Tuesdays.
The following items may be recycled:
- Aluminum: beverage containers, foil, casserole pans and pie plates.
- Cans: Steel and tin.
- Glass. Clear (flint), brown (amber) and green, blue food and beverage jars and bottles. Paper labels, rings and lids on glass containers are acceptable.
- Clean Plastics #1-7. PET containers, such as beverage bottles, dishwashing soap bottles, shampoo bottles and similar items. Blow molded, closed mouth natural and colored HDPE containers generally consisting of plastic milk jugs, water bottles, detergent bottles and similar items. Paper labels are acceptable. Rinsed containers that may have held toxic or contaminated materials are acceptable.
Preparation: Residents shall be asked to rinse the items and remove organics, other contents, labels, lids and plastic caps, but there is no requirement for these to be removed from recyclable containers. Inclusion of organics, caps, lid, labels and other contents shall not be reason for rejection. All recyclable materials may be place in the same container for collection.
Recyclable paper consists of the following materials:
- Old newsprint. All loose or paper bagged newsprint is acceptable and includes all paper that is distributed with or as part of general circulation newspapers.
- Old corrugated containers. All loose old corrugated containers that are flattened, and either cut down or folded to size of no more than 4′ X 4′ flattened and 2′ X 2′ square. Staples and tape do not have to be removed.
- Brown Paper Bags. All loose or bagged Kraft paper sacks used to hold newspaper.
- Telephone Books. Old telephone directories.
- Magazines. Old magazines including catalogs and similar printed material with glossy pages.
- Paperboard Cartons. Cereal boxes (without plastic liner), drink boxes, snack boxes etc. Wax-coated paperboard is acceptable.
- Mixed Residential Paper. Mixed paper, including shredded paper, may include all of the following: junk mail, high-grade paper, white and colored ledger, copier paper, office paper, laser printer paper, computer paper including continuous formed perforated white bond or green bar paper, book paper, cotton fiber content paper, duplicator paper, form bond, manifold business forms, mimeo paper, note pad paper, loose leaf fillers, stationery, writing paper, paper envelopes including envelopes with plastic windows, carbonless (NCR) paper, tabulating cards, facsimile paper, and manila folders.
Residential yard waste is collected one (1) time per week. Collection day is on Wednesdays. Collections will NOT be made on Saturdays or Sundays except in a true emergency.
Special haul service for bulk items (furniture) and white goods (appliances) may be requested for a special fee. Pick-up for these items can be scheduled by calling Waste Pro at (941) 355-9600.

Any disposal and collection service that would have been regularly provided will be provided the day after the holiday. In the event that the holiday occurs on a Friday, the collection will be scheduled for the day prior. There will be no collection on Saturdays or Sundays.
When can trash receptacles be placed at the curb for pick-up?
Curbside containers, recycling bins and un-containerized residential waste shall not be placed at the curb for curb service pick-up earlier than 5:00 p.m. of the day prior to the designated collection day. All emptied containers shall be returned to proper storage on the property no later than 10:00 a.m. on the day following the designated collection day. Curbside containers and recycling bins shall be stored between collection days on the property, but not in the front yard. Public easements and rights-of-way are not to be used as a storage location for curbside containers or recycling bins. Curbside containers and recycling bins shall be stored within the perimeter of privately owned property. Any property that incurs three separate citations for violation of this section, shall arrange for rear door service. Any increased collection fee resulting from the required rear door service shall be borne by the property owner. Notwithstanding the foregoing, this section shall not apply to horticultural trash.
