February 11, 1961, in Newark, New Jersey
 
MARITAL STATUS:
 
Married to Thea Tokajer since December 14, 1981.  Thea has been in the medical profession since 1975 retiring in 2020 after 45 years as a medical professional.  We reside in Palmetto, Florida.

Direct command over Patrol, Responsible for Supervision of Field Training Officers Program, assist with purchasing and budget concerns. Oversee the writing of Department’s General Orders and Training Manuals.

BRADENTON POLICE DEPARTMENT, Bradenton, FL                                                       1985 - 2011
While at the Bradenton Police Department, have been assigned to the following areas of responsibility:

Initiated accreditation process and administered grants.  Agency received State accreditation status on June 25, 2003, and National status on July 29, 2006.

Captain
While a Captain, held two administrative positions:                                                        1996 - 1998

Captain of Enforcement Direct command over Patrol, Detective, Special Investigations, Property Evidence, Parking, Communications, and Training Coordinator Divisions.  Served as agency’s Public Information Officer.

Administrative Captain Oversaw purchasing, prepared and administered budget, instrumental in preparation and administering federal grant applications, oversaw Maintenance supervisor, vehicle and building maintenance and administered special event applications within the city.

Training Lieutenant, Coordinator                                                                                                   1995 - 1996
Implemented and scheduled all in-service and mandatory retraining courses at Bradenton Police Department.  Brought new, innovative training to agency.  Kept and maintained all training records.  Responsible for supervision of Field Training Officers Program.  Also assigned task of Narcotics Eradication Team Commander.

Sergeant
While a Sergeant, held three positions:                                                                    1992 - 1995

Training Coordinator Implemented and scheduled all in-service and mandatory retraining courses at Bradenton Police Department.  Kept and maintained all training records.  Responsible for supervision of Field Training Officers Program.  Rewrote training manual which remains in effect to date, with minor changes.

Sergeant of the Crime Reduction Team Responsible for street level narcotics and community policing unit tasks.

Sergeant of Patrol Division Responsible for patrol tasks.

Corporal, Field Training Officer, Detective, and Patrol Officer                                               1985 – 1991
Held several positions during this time in the Patrol Division.  During the time in the Detective Division, worked Robbery/Homicide and assigned as backup I.D. Technician, as needed.

SARASOTA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT, Sarasota, FL                                           1983 - 1985
Corrections Deputy Worked as a Corrections Officer at the County Jail.
